They're under the "data" subdirectory by default.

In your plans_config.pl, there's a line:

$options{data_directory} = "data";

that tells Plans what this directory should be.

# subdirectory beneath plans, where .xml files are kept
$options{data_directory} = "data";
that seems to be what i have in my plans.config.pl file. do i need to add plans directory as lead off directory so as in html it would read plans/data/calendars.xml. if so how does one do that in cgi (perl)?
thanks in advance.

Yes, you might need to add more path information to the directory. If you're running on windows, it might look something like:

$options{data_directory} = "C:/path/to/plans/data";

i added four lines of code to config_plans.pl
http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/plans/data/events.xml etc for the 3 other xml files that were not showing up. also i gave permissions to the xml files.
the perl that's running on the host server is 5.006??? so will plans calendar run with this perl.
now i'm getting the following error message when i link to the plans.cgi page
Internal Server Error

The documentation has some help for debugging perl issues:
