Events background colors have disappeared from the color drop-down list.

Indeed they have.

It looks like, for some reason, you don't have a current version of lpd.js.

Replace your version

http://www.starutah.org/calendar/theme/lpd.js

with this version:

http://planscalendar.com/release/plans_7.6.2/theme/lpd.js
