I am using Expression Engine to create a church site. Plans was one of the calendars recommended for my needs. I guess I have a couple of questions:
1. I am a web designer and programming is not something I do - is this easy to install?
2. I really need a small calendar - is that possible to create?
Thank you,

A lot of effort has been put into making Plans easy to install. It depends a little on your ISP, and how straightforward their rules are for running CGI scripts.

I'm not sure what "small calendar" means The answer might be "no". The calendars that Plans generates look just like the ones in the demo version. Many users use the "upcoming events" feature:
http://planscalendar.com/demo/upcoming_events.html
to include a small calendar on other pages.
Hope this helps,
