Is there a way to send scheduled email reminders without cron? My web host does not support cron. This is their response: "The cron command which allows users to schedule scripts to be executed on the server is not available. The only way to execute a script is to run it inside a web page as a CGI (using Perl or Python) or a PHP file."

I can send an immediate (Send a reminder right now...) email, and I can run the email_reminders.cgi script from the web page and have it send the reminders. But is there any way I can schedule the email_reminders.cgi script without cron?

Thanks,
Pete

You can run the cron job (or scheduled task on windows) and have it fetch the web page with lynx or wget (unix) or a browser (windows).

Just curious, what host is this? I hope you're not paying them a lot .Very Happy

Thanks, that's what I thought. The host is www.globat.com (we're on the T01 plan). The website is for a medium sized local bicycle club (www.renowheelmen.org). We're a non-profit and can't (won't) pay much for a web host. Globat has done fine in this regards. We've been using a Yahoo! Calendar but Plans seems to be a better solution since we can connect directly without having to log into Yahoo!. I'll check our membership to see if someone is willing to volunteer running a script that will run the page.
