When I run email_reminders.pl, I get an error message:

Plans error:
Unable to locate email reminders data file data/email_reminders.xml! It should be in the same directory as email_reminders.cgi!

However, when I move email_reminders.xml to the same directory as email_reminders.pl, I get the same result. I'm not a programmer, and would really appreciate some tips for getting the E-mail feature to work.

I have version 7.5.5 installed, on a Windows 2000 IIS server, with Perl 5.6.1.

This is a bug in email_reminders.cgi. It's making an incorrect file check.

Thanks for reporting it. A fix should be available soon.

Appreciate the quick response. Any idea how long it'll take you to fix this issue? Are there any workarounds until this gets fixed?

Thanks,
Eugene

Lloyd:
I am now able to run email_reminders.pl manually, after entering the correct SMTP mail server in plans_config.pl, and getting permissions right for the data directory and .xml files.

However, my IT department isn't too helpful in getting it setup as a Windows task, so it'll run every 5 mins. They want me to provide them with a script or batch file, which they'll test then implement. Problem is I'm no programmer. Any help/references/examples you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eugene

Well, you can test out running a windows "scheduled task" on your desktop. Problem is, windows scheduled tasks can only be run hourly (not any more often). Unless you set up 12 scheduled tasks, with each one offset by 5 minutes. This is not much fun to manage.

Sorry it's not much help Sad There's a lot of information out there if you search for "windows scheduled task" though.

Lloyd:
In the reminder's I'm getting, the third line of text from the top, which is the event date, is throwing the period to the next line. Where do I find the code that generates this portion of the email reminder, so I can change whatever, and make the period show up directly after the date?
Thanks again,
Eugene
